I was shocked by this movie, and not in the way I thought I would be.
I’m so confused.
The near unanimous praise this gets, the sight and sound ranking etc. made me think it was a movie I was definitely going to like, and I came out of it thinking it was the worst Hitchcock movie I’d seen by far.
It’s definitely beautiful, but I found the pacing all over the place, and some of the directorial decisions really confusing. This might be something that grows on me over the years but I guess it’s my big hot take for now.
