    Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

If MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is one long extended car chase (and it virtually is) then FURIOSA is more akin to a revenge-fueled western. Ana Taylor-Joy is perfect as the mostly mute Furiosa. Eyes seething with rage, this is Furiosa when her only purpose is survival and destruction. In her wake lies nothing but human carnage.

What else can I say about Chris Hemsworth that hasn't already? He's fantastic here. A wonderful mixture of menace and theatricality that makes his…

    *Reviewing the "Minus Color" version

Black & White versions of modern movies have become a novelty here and there over the past two decades. Only Darabont's THE MIST makes good on the promise of truly delivering something new with the B&W version. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and LOGAN also released black and white editions on home video. “Lesser” Spielberg is still pretty damn good.

Overflowing with charm and optimism, PERFECT DAYS is a delightful character study that has zero use for irony. Despite being quiet and unassuming, Hirayama is still one of the most compelling characters to grace the big screen in a long time. Koji Yakusho delivers a memorable performance with little dialogue but with presence that has a lasting effect.

And chef's kiss to all of those amazing needle drops.

Cameron's technical prowess is on full display, and it's the one time he wrote a real romantic relationship between two characters (sorry TITANIC).

    Salem's Lot

    ★★

Unmemorable in almost every aspect. Gone is the slow rot of one of King's most prominent Maine towns. Instead, the new SALEM'S LOT is full of half-realized scenes, nearly non-existent character development, and poorly directed set pieces.

This one sat on the shelf for a reason. And it probably should've stayed there.
