If you’ve seen the evil dead films and you know what to expect going into this movie you’re going to enjoy it. I don’t have much to say about this one. It‘s creepy, it’s eerie, it’s unsettling, it’s gory. Something that this movie is not is scary. It really isn’t. This is slasher movie that is continuously up in your face and trying to unsettle you. There’s not much left to wonder or to leave an impression on you that will actually leave you spooked. It’s just pretty vulgar in all the definitions.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Tom Hanks of course is doing Tom Hanks things. Pulling you into his character and making you feel what he’s feeling. The story here is tragic but mostly beautiful. At the beginning of this film all you can see is this extremely bitter old man and he makes it quite literally impossible to like him. Little women is a fluid journey through the lives of 4 sisters in the years after the Civil War with flashbacks to childhood that transition surprisingly smoothly. This movie is based off the novel by Louisa May Alcott and that’s exactly what it is, just a story. The film is a bit predictable but that’s countered by the terrific story telling.
