  Not a film I particularly enjoyed bc it was very eerie and unsettling. Also unlike in memories of murder which is a kind of similar storyline I wasn’t on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the abducter was for whatever reason. Jake Gylenhaal was very good though and made up for some of the poorer acting by others. 3 to 3 1/2 /5

  Definitely not brutalist level. No where near in my opinion. Toros and Igor characters were well done and probably the highlights of this. Mikey was also effective. I think a suitable comparison for this film to think about its quality is Parasite — both about wealthy families that a working class person or family gets intrapped in. I think parasite does a way better job at showing the class disparities than this, but this was still good. It definitely showed…

  first of tarantino ive watched suprisingly and not too impressed. Lots of people think this film shows the horrors of slavery and has a good ending because the enslaved prevails. I think the real protagonist is the doctor, not django, who guides django on the whole journey, looks out for him, is the smarts behind the operation, and dies for him. We are left feeling like the hero is the white non-slaver, not djang. I also feel like the glamourizing…
