Went in knowing NOTHING about the broadway show, but knew it was only part 1. 

Tbh, the singing ranges were right in the sweet spot that I couldn’t make out the lyrics. I look forward to seeing it again with subtitles. 

Otherwise it was a fine movie. I’m a bit disappointed that it seems not to connect to the original? Or else it radically re contextualizes the original movie

Probably can’t be beat as far as jokes per minute. There’s an art to this specific brand of slapstick.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the stamina to keep up with the movie’s constant onslaught of visual gags, and the humor is at times just a tad bit juvenile for me.

Still a must see comedy classic

Held off watching this for years… maybe decades, because the military propping up movies on the condition they make them look good never sat well with me. 

And yeah, it’s flagrant, but I can’t deny it’s a good, dumb movie. The volleyball scene was excellent and the soundtrack was delightfully overbearing to inform the tone of every scene. And the writing and acting ranges from passable to outright bad moment to moment. 

I don’t know if I’ll ever go out of my way to watch it again, but I won’t complain if life puts it in my path again.
