Visceral.
The apolitical nature worked wholly to its benefit. There was no “I point my finger at your side!” The message of “we all better get better at bipartisanship before our nation explodes like an RPG shooting at The Lincoln Memorial” was much more effective.
The seriousness, depravity, and balls-to-the-wall vicious violence of war is at its height in this film - reminiscent of films like Saving Private Ryan and Full Metal Jacket.
