I haven’t been this mad leaving a movie in a while. The plot is scattered, the comedy is cheap, and the plot tries to comment on too many political points to feel cohesive or compelling.

The Brutalist 2024
I left the theater feeling as though I had left an art history class. The Brutalist embodies its architectural namesake. It’s raw, bold, exposed, even harsh, but bursting with complex beauty. It may get a lot of heat for being pretentious (it is a 215 minute film after all) but I admire Corbet for giving it everything he’s got.
