The Help 2011
I avoided The Help because I knew it was a white savior film (which takes away from the main point) but there are some lovely performances here (shout out Viola Davis). White savior or not, however, I think Skeeter's character is a good reminder that the privileged should never turn a blind eye to oppression and should play an active role in combating it.

The Maze Runner 2014
Not gonna lie, I turned on Maze Runner because I didn't wanna write my report and needed to watch something in the background to make it bearable. While there was nothing groundbreaking here, I found myself paying full attention and becoming quite invested with the plot. The film lacks depth unfortunately, but I was entertained until the end.

The Wailing 2016
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
At its surface, The Wailing is about an a mysterious, demonic illness taking over a Korean village victim by victim. On a deeper level, it's a film about faith, deception, trust, and desperation. The ending is ambiguous- who is the root of the evil causing people to go insane? There are plenty of clues (and cool Biblical references) to explore, and regardless of your theory, many concepts on the nature of evil to walk away with. You're not meant to come away with a clear answer, and that's the point. Evil may be stopped, but not when it's already deceived you.
