  A love letter to the 90’s, an ode to the TV shows that allowed us to escape when the world was too much, and a reminder that “There is still time” to always be who you were meant to be.
  Beautifully filmed, lovingly crafted, and somehow both heart breaking and hopeful at the same time.

  Maxxxine may be very self aware, but it doesn’t make it any less of a messy film. Too many genres to pay homage to, too many characters to grow any real attachment to, and a completely uninspired reveal in the last act make this at times a very perplexing watch. Onto some positives- Mia Goth is having a great time, the Giallo inspiration is visually amazing, and there is some amazing cringe and laugh out loud moments. However, having so much love for X and Pearl, I knew this would have a lot to live up to. I just wish it did for me.
