The Royal Tenenbaums is both one of my favorite Wes Anderson films, and one of my favorite roles of Gene Hackman. It has loads of charm and a stellar soundtrack. Both heartfelt and hilarious, it is easily rewatchable and definitely a crowd-pleaser. RIP Buckley though.
I thought this movie was quite bad, but I also did not feel the intense rage many other viewers felt while watching. I think the concept of the film—on paper—is thought-provoking. However, I’m not sure it warrants a movie…let alone a musical. Beaches strikes the perfect balance of cheesy, endearing, hilarious, and heart-wrenching. It appealed to my womanhood in ways many modern movies have been unable to, and to be honest, any movie that makes me cry like this deserves appreciation. Overall, I thought it was lovely.
