First of all, I just want to say that this movie gets an undeserved rep as a reactionary movie just because reactionaries like it. The actual plot of the movie is a pretty standard story about resisting totalitarian government--and it's pretty obvious that it's specifically of the racist, theocratic fascist variety. More queer representation than there is in most movies today, and it's, like, really obvious that the villains in the movie hate anybody other than White Christians.
