  Lynch understood the power of dreams moreso than any other filmmaker i can think of. this is why Bob is so frightening, and why this film feels so intense even in its quieter moments. for me the most fear-inducing image in all of Twin Peaks is the recurring shot of the Palmer’s staircase with the fan going. he Knew the mystery of the “mundane”, how, in dreams, even a fucking ceiling fan can induce terror. the other side of the coin is his remarkable penchant for capturing the simple yet surreal beauty of waking life. there is truly no one who does it quite like David
