I have heard this soundtrack maybe 5,000 times. My sister got the CD for her 14th birthday. I know every single song by heart and have known the whole story since I was 10 but never saw it on stage.

That to say I'll be comparing the movie to a play I feel like I know super well but also haven't technically seen.

Great rom-com. Katherine Heigl was unmemorable but relatable, which frankly was nice compared to the overly "quirky/clumsy" female leads from other rom-coms of this era.

James Marsden was the real standout. He was fantastic.

Christian Bale's Gorr deserved a better movie.

It was fun enough but the marvel machine has created a template of mashed together moments glued with quippy dialogue.

Go here to get the thing, someone says something offhandedly, now go somewhere else and get the other thing, now go to the place to destroy the thing.

    Pretty soulless.

The black and white fight was rad, I loved Gorr's design and Bale's performance, the goats made me laugh once or twice. Not worth the two hours.

I will no longer watch Marvel media.

15 minutes in and I realized that maybe this was not a "Dark Knight" style improvement sequel.

Then I gave up and went back to watching Star Trek TNG.
