To me this felt like Sean Baker doing the Safdie thing when I want Sean Baker to do the Sean Baker-y thing. Not to say I want to pigeon-hole any artist but I just missed the tenderness and comedy he usually brings to these stories. It’s definitely here but in a wayyyyy backseat to the first act which serves as a Korine film snd the second act which serves as a Sopranos filler episode.

Faces Places 2017
I was worried this one might not hold up for me, so glad I was dead wrong. This was a much needed breath of air amidst so many recent, ugly images I’ve been constantly bombarded with in my socials feed. Made me re-evaluate what I even choose to look at on a day to day basis. Life is far too short
