The Wind Rises 2013
After a second watch this films thrill still stands strong. The scale of this story is reminiscent of Oppenheimer (even though this came before) this is the epic WWII biopic but showing Miyazaki’s home, Japan’s hero. Jiro Hirokashi.
This film has everything. Love, loss, high stakes, action, epic dialogue scenes, history, beautiful visuals. It has it all.
One of Miyazaki's best. Absolutely stunning film.

Asteroid City 2023
What was it about? Eternity, and I don’t know what else. The grief of man. Is she in the stars? Is she in the ground? Is she in a Tupperware container? Is she taking a bath in a swimsuit reading a paperback novel on a rusty fire escape 3 floors below your camera position? Who knows? The world might never be the same but the alien still stole the asteroid, Auggie still burnt his hand, and the cast still kept going.
