A definite must see for steam and railway buffs, this classic Ealing comedy is still well worth watching. Although it doesn’t have the thrills and spills and complicated emotional twists so obsessively offered (and expected by many) with contemporary cinema releases, this film joyously revels in British quirkiness (and stereotypes), it is a light, humorous and warm film, that still leaves a nice positive feeling in your heart all these years since it was produced. Although possibly not as enthralling (as my film watching companion reiterated repeatedly!), it very deservedly earns its place as a classic Ealing Comedy.
