  what begins as an expertly written fable of the Americana mythos unfortunately devolves into scattered, unfittingly theatrical plot lines in the ladder half. I can not insist enough that what is good about this film is immensely so. Linklater’s soulful writing can still be felt. Still worth viewing for the nostalgic setting, themes, and characters. smells of studio interference wanting more sensationalism
