“It’s a complex and human story.”

I was not mentally prepared for a 5 star experience when I sat down to watch this, especially considering the subject matter. But after having just completed it, I don’t see how I could rate it any less. This was a heavy and, frankly, ambitious topic to tackle and may not normally be my cup of tea. But I was immediately hooked and hung onto every word through the entire runtime.
    This is one…

I’ve never seen My Tyson, but I came on here to review the YouTube short film, My Ty: An American Story. This is the easiest 5 star review I’ve ever given… I am a loss for words. The cinematography, the absurdly genuine performances of a bunch of no-name actors, the message at the end… I can’t recommend this one enough!!
Even though it doesn’t qualify for Letterboxd since it’s considered an “amateur” film, it’s a CRIME that My Ty isn’t on here. 100/100

Apparently masturbation jokes are definitely my sense of humor…

I enjoyed this way more than I even thought I would. This is one of the more entertaining and artsy romantic movies I’ve ever seen. It reminded me a lot of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the sense that it doesn’t follow the normal chronological flow you’re accustomed to, let alone the generic formulaic movie-making that is common in the genre.
I feel like the best way to describe this movie is a collection of relatable moments, connected with a great soundtrack, believable dialogue, and likable (though flawed) characters/performances.
