Visual Storytelling at its peak.
This movie doesn't explicitly tell a story, it creates the imagery and atmosphere for the viewer to fill the gaps. It is slow, which emphasizes the pace of Hirayamas life. The shots invite the audience to view life through Hirayama's lens, which is a beautiful one, but also subjective, leading to certain omissions about his story. Never have I watched a movie that has so little dialogue but tells so much, I'm still thinking about it. It's the most anti-sensationalist and real movie I've watched in a while. I loved it.
