  National Theatre Live: A View from the Bridge 2015

  Simply phenomenal. What I wouldn't give to watch this live. The bare-bones staging requires us to fill the blanks on our own and it makes the performances all the more impactful. Mark Strong really deserved that Olivier; here's hoping he'll win again this year.

  “Ragtagly whimsical” may not be the right words to use to describe this movie, but I’m struggling to come up with better ones. Everything I love from Director Bong is here, including the tug of war between desperation and kindred spirit. Special mention to my main man Stephen Park, who makes what could have been a Generic Reasonable Company man Figure seem so charismatic and likeable.

  The dangers of regurgitating the past as a shortcut to gain fame and power, told by completely turning the past inside out in every way imaginable and unimaginable. Everyone brings their A-game. Burst out laughing when Paul Williams makes his grand entrance, his line delivery never misses. Jessica Harper coolly throwing her hat away is one of the cinematic moments of all time. William Finley is sensational as our tragic hero, channeling in separate occasions Lloyd and Chaney.
