There was this emptiness to this film—as we follow someone who sees the pursuit of justice not appear as black and white as she expected, the environments explored are simple yet say enough about the atrocities of cartel violence.
Even though I saw the dinner scene well before watching this movie, the journey to get there and seeing it in context made it even more impactful. The lack of what feels like a resolution bothered me, but maybe that’s the point.
