Timeless, genuine, relatable.
Those can be some of the hardest things to accomplish with a film and this one does all three superbly. There is a reason this on-screen chemistry and wit will be studied for generations of screenwriters and directors. Brilliant.

It’s probably as good as it could’ve been without Russell Crowe and Joaquin. For me it missed the memorable lines and charisma the first one exuded so effortlessly. It also felt like it struggled to find satisfying deaths for its antagonists. The Emperors were so pompous and SO irritating and wronged SO many people. Does having Denzel kill them as part of his even EVILER scheme feel like a satisfying conclusion for two people who we were all waiting to…
