Goofy and spooky
Lost a full star in my eyes because I couldn’t stop thinking about that dumbass video from outside the airport in the first trump era whenever mark ruffallo was on screen… “we love america!”
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Things I liked:
Everyone’s commitment to the bit, the overacting was at an 11 and it was brilliant
The visuals were stunning, I know a lot of criticisms say it was style over substance but at least the style ripped.
First adaptation that asks “how does the woman feel about this”
Orlok’s moustache.
Everyone is horny even Willem dafoe is horny for vampire slaying
Things I didn’t:
I heard a lot about this being a feminist adaptation that really centres…
Unbearably sweaty.
Does not pass the Bechdel test. Unless a woman snorting a line of coke off another woman counts - the women in question do not interact in any way outside of this.
The power of collective resistance *and* overt trans themes? This movie radicalised me.
