Terrifier 2 made me Lauren LaVera’s biggest fan, and I will watch any movie she is in going forward. When I heard about The Fetus, I knew I had to see it. I try to go into most movies knowing as little as possible, and this one was no exception. I knew there was a problematic fetus, and that was it. Batshit bonkers and I loved every second. Brutal, funny AF, and blood-soaked, The Monkey is successful as both a horror and a comedy, which can be hard to pull off.
Theo James was surprisingly great - and I’d love to see him in more horror flicks.
Osgood Perkins is quickly proving himself one of the up and coming horror directors to watch. Between this and Longlegs, I’ll be seated for anything else he does.
After seeing the trailer, I wasn’t interested at all in this movie. I heard mixed reviews while it was at the theaters. Just watched it tonight, and it was better than I expected. There were funny moments, the gore was hilarious and plentiful, Nic, Nicholas, and Ben were just having a blast and killing it (especially Nic, are you kidding me?!)… it was a pretty entertaining and quick watch. Awkwafina and her storyline were the downsides for me. It was still worth a watch though, and I’m glad I checked it out.
Somewhere in there, there’s a more interesting/weird movie than what we are given. It was kinda boring, kinda interesting, and kinda great in parts.
