    Maybe it’s just novelty, but I absolutely love old films. Every light-hearted comment is hilarious, every dated line charming, every green screen chase scene so rubbish it’s amazing again. Nothing will ever be more frightening than the childcatcher, apart from maybe the number 15, but it nevertheless maintains a loveliness throughout that magically renews, greater and even more nostalgic every time you watch it.

    Also does anyone else think ‘Hushabye Mountain’ sounds exactly the same as ‘Those Canaan Days’ from Joseph?

    A fantastic idea, and executed as well as I could have hoped. The ending was maybe a little too on-the-nose for my tastes, but then the last shot was just as the rest of the film - beautiful in its simplicity and subtlety.

    One of my favourite Ralph Fiennes performances (which is a noble title) and gripping generally.

    I felt there were two interesting halves of this film - A kind of slow burning gothic element, and a full-on rebellious, romantic, and quick atmosphere interspersing it.
