  Arthouse Movie: The Movie 

  Every artistic, non-linear indie movie has stolen from this shamelessly for 50 years. 

  Clearly inspired by Dostoevsky, Bergman, and oddly enough, 2001, Tarkovsky focuses his lens on the tumult and sullen nature of the Soviet Union. 

  Haunting. Beautiful. Lyrical. Opaque. 

  There’s not a clear way through this, but the breathtaking cinematography, the eerie score, wonderful performances, and overall feeling of the movie linger long after it ends. I think I need to watch it again to fully wrap my head around it, but not to understand why this is considered a masterpiece.
