  A monster movie that cares more about its characters than its monster; which makes for a moving story about regret, suffering, endurance, and love. 

  Yamazaki and crew proved that modern, big-threat/monster  movies can be compelling beyond their action sequences. 

  Excellent score. 

  Did not expect to cry watching a Godzilla movie.

  It was fine. The main characters are unlikeable, their redemption unearned. The stakes never felt real or like they mattered much. Some fight scenes were great, some were awful. They really wanted us to care about Jaime Lee Curtis’s character but didn’t really give us a reason to? The mother-daughter reconciliation was cool, but again, felt unearned. It was fine.
