When Evil Lurks 2023
The director's previous movie Terrified lived and died on the tension it created. While it has plenty of gruesome images, the horror was built on what was in the dark, and on the audience seeing what the characters did not.
When Evil Lurks is an altogether different beast. It does not hold the audience in place, but instead uses the visceral gore to show a bleak world. Disgusting creatures, gratuitous violence, and demons that speak your deepest fears make the movie pitch black in tone.
