This film was amazing: visually stunning, thematically rich and emotionally balanced between humor, sadness and intensity. The climax of the film was one of the best I’ve experienced in awhile: I kept thinking “this can’t get any worse…oh wow, it did!” It kept building until an explosive finale! Definitely one of my favorite Marvel films to date!

This was fun. It was neat to see Carnage, but I kept thinking the whole time that a PG-13 Carnage feels watered-down…which is funny, since if there had been an R-rated version, I probably wouldn’t see it because I don’t like excessive violence. So I’m satisfied with PG-13 Carnage. Also subtitles would have been nice. There were times I’m pretty sure Venom said some funny things, but it came out sounding like somebody clearing their throat, so I missed it. I’m getting old.

Great thriller. I was cringing and talking to the characters throughout the movie. I hated the part on the stairs, but the part with the axe was a great picture of love. Excited for Part II!

At first, I thought this movie was just resorting to gratuitous violence...but then I came to appreciate Bong’s themes. This is a thought-provoking and fascinating movie that calls into question the power dynamics at play between the haves and the have-nots. It shows the necessity of human kindness and the darker version of ourselves we can become if in our desperation to maintain society we forget to care for the people around us, especially the most vulnerable. A relevant movie, indeed.
