gonna yap for a sec because i watched this for my drugs in contemporary colombian culture module and gnna use some of these as notes for later.
finding out that all the actors were real children picked from the streets of medellín, who actually experienced these forms of violence (gang, domestic, sexual), underage prositution, drug use and displacement made this film a really hard watch.
‘testimonio’ is such an important genre in latin american culture because it highlights experiences that may not be understood worldwide, not only liberating in the process of telling but also questioning institutional power to viewers.
