  The emotions and warmth in Max’s letters… 🥹 

  “…we don’t get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We, however, can choose our friends, and I am glad I have chosen you.”

  As someone who struggles to understand emotions for his whole life, Max’s still able to retain a kind, kind heart. I guess the inability to understand the world could also be the reason why he can keep his pure heart. Nonetheless I think we all can benefit from his perception of life.

  StoryGraph said my go-to book types are reflective, emotional, and sad, and this film is exactly that. 

  Beautiful beautiful beauuuuuutiful cinematography. Especially with the color grading of the scenes from the past which really added that feeling of nostalgia and grief to it. Love it.

  Beyond the Sea was such a nice addition to the film. The whole film kind of reminded me of Edward Yang + Ocean Waves, my favorite things in the world 🥹

  Perfect movie choice for the first solo movie date. I resonate with him on so many different levels. 
  On the way home I was thinking how I’ve been enjoying my own little routines and finding peace through these alone and quiet moments, but sometimes I feel like I’m just on autopilot mode in which my soul drifts away from the world and drowns in my very own overwhelming thoughts.

  I wonder if the protagonist felt the same way.
