Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack 1988
Tomino has no idea how to write women! All the Quess stuff just does absolutely nothing for me. Pretty much anything not military sci-fi battles or the Amuro vs Char conflict really falls flat. When it’s in those gears it’s stunning. Beautifully animated massive space battles and melodramatic stakes are what I come here for. Amuro and Char are all time rivals and this is a great send off for them. Char and Amuro should have kissed in this but at least we got the extremely wicked line. It was also a delightful surprise to catch this in a theatre.

In a Violent Nature 2024
A failed experiment though not without a few interesting shots here and there. The gore effects are a standout for sure. Consistently beyond disgusting. I also think it has a very good sense of place. It puts you in a beautiful but weirdly casual forest setting. This same vibes carries over to the kills. The film treats these moments in the exact same way as all the slow walking through the forest. Just another part of the day. Another inevitable…

Ends up being a collection of bad trailers for like a 2008 mmo that no one plays. It has pretty much nothing going on like at all. Literally made a 2 hour and 15 minute long trailer for a shitty seven samurai remake sequel.
