  i watched this film for the first time on a video tape, home sick from school when I was around 10 and fell in love with Beth especially. It is a simple and faithful adaptation, and Winona and Christian are magic together. My only gripe is now that I’ve seen the new adaptation, my suspension of disbelief is ruined for the romance between Jo and Friedrich, make Jo gay u cowards.
