Has interesting moments, but mostly misses the mark on the intensity level it tries to reach. Although it has a number of noticeable elements from other movies & directors, I wouldn't spend the bulk of my time trying to compare Drifter to something like the Mad Max series, at that point you're setting yourself up for failure.
On its own, it's at least worth a watch. It does have a high rewatchability factor to it, I can see myself owning this…
This is one of those films where you'll experience a little bit of every emotion as you're watching it. The only real issue I had with it was that it has some quick, dramatic mood changes, like literally, I'd be smiling one minute & in the same minute, I can just feel my spirit being brought down.
"Creative Examination" would be the 2 words I'd use to describe this movie. Watching 20th Century Women is best when you know as little about it as possible, not because of any plot twists, but it's something you should just let absorb you in and enjoy as it's going along.
Personally, there were moments where I thought it would end, but didn't want it to. It's a funny, down to earth hit to the brain, and I liked it! Definitely worth supporting if it's in, or coming to, a theater near you.
