Turtles Can Fly 2004
As a Kurd, my parents had seen these circumstances themselves, relatives and friends dying. I grew up listening to the stories of how innocent children were buried alive, how women were killed and how men sacrificed their lives fighting to protect their loved ones. Of course, there were also traitors, ones who sold innocent lives for their own gains and are still continuing to do so. Life was never easy for us. And even to this day things are not that much different. We’ve still got a long way ahead of us. But we’re not giving up.
