  A classic, epic, fucking masterpiece.

  The subplots alone are incredible: complaining about equipment! A concert in Libya?! A new manager!? Meta-commentary about the documentary/tv show!

  The mundanity, crosstalk, bits, and yes, coming up with legendary songs out of thin air — it’s literally fucking gripping. 

  tl;dr: The Beatles rock

  Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain 2021

  Making a documentary about a person who spent literally thousands of hours in front of a camera discussing life, the world, people, politics, and morality is … a choice. Especially when that person died so recently. And especially when you end the film with a narrowly precise argument about why that complicated person killed himself.

  Yes it wrecked me. But this is not a good or necessary documentary. 

  Tony made more than 270 episodes of TV; 270 beautiful, inspiring, important, challenging mini-documentaries of his own. You’re better off watching any and all of those instead.
