  A key theme is the trauma of the war and how people who lived through it passed it on to the next generation in a way.

  Theme of the plight of single mothers in contemporary Japan. Exploring the discrimination and negative view of divorced women. Urban setting and struggle of 21st century housing quality and price. Represents what I value in horror that it reflects real themes in its dramatic methods.

  It is modern feminist cinema.

  Feels somewhat didactic. Urban care of children. Quite brilliant.

  More compelling than ring in themes and competently directed. Possibly or likely due to my western sensibilities.
