A decently done depiction of abusive relationships. Between an adventurous young girl and a mysterious man, David. David whose identity remains unresolved and unclear is impulsive, violent and irrefutably delusional. Perhaps maintaining a vague background serves as a way for his character to remain applicable to different backgrounds abusers can come from. Though it is mentioned he grew up as an uncared for orphan, it maintains the ideas those who develop violent and sociopathic tendencies were unloved. This affects their wiring and ultimately leads them down a path seeking after control and companionship in perverse ways. Great movie though.
