Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me 1992
soul-crushing and stomach-churning every time. such a necessarily harrowing depiction of abuse and a gracious and empathetic portrayal of how it transforms victims into people they and their friends don’t recognize. especially in laura’s case, as her friends are just good old fashioned teenagers trying to support her but not knowing the depths of the horrors she’s experiencing.
“donna, not you!”
every time laura sees leland leaving the house — “oh my god”; “its not him” — i feel sick to my stomach. sheryl lee deserves a retrospective oscar for this performance.
this is lynch’s masterpiece.
