I shouldn’t like this movie, but I kinda did. It made me feel icky and uncomfortable, but the performances and effects were so great. Probably wouldn’t watch again because of its abrasive approach to sound design and rather unlikable ensemble characters.

A truly special, nostalgic look at growing up too quickly. Hal & Harper’s portrayal of individual struggles with loneliness within a family unit is so well done and universally accessible. The humor also works well from annoying little kids, to awkward situationships, and even vandalism of your own home (hide Mark Ruffalo from those tennis rackets).
