Star Trek: First Contact 1996
“Ahab spent years hunting the white whale that crippled him…”
Still not my favorite era of Trek but Picard becomes much more relatable this time around. His lust for revenge is basic but allows a more conventional relationship with the audience. Stewart is also much more compelling here, with a bit of anger to tap into. It’s a watchable film that never begs for much attention yet it’s still as thoughtful as a Trek film should be. On a rewatch I’ll probably just start here when it comes to the Picard films.

- A terrible movie in spite of Mackie trying desperately to save it. Making Cap a presidential bootlicker is certainly a choice.
