This film is so beautiful and full of honest, genuine, wonderful women sharing vulnerable moments and stories that are like a thunderbolt to the heart. A movie full of joy, compassion, understanding, truth, and kindness. The focus and attention on each of these women, then the photos of them throughout their lives was emotional and really effective. I adored this, and I think I needed it. How much more badass can a film be than a nun polishing spark plugs with a nail file?

Loved this as a sort of behind the curtain look at this group of sex workers and the different types of clientele they encounter.

A little too heavy handed on the messaging for me. I more appreciate a “show don’t tell” approach, instead of repeating flashback lines to underscore points and zooming and focusing on things nearly everyone would have already noticed “you WERE great”. Temporary rating, I think I may have liked this much more but it really needs a rewatch for me to get a better sense of how I feel about this. Sofia Coppola is so incredibly talented and for her to come out of the gate and announce herself with this distinct style and craft is really impressive. This and the killer soundtrack make for a really great film that I can’t wait to revisit.
