i think that this doesn't really stick its landing but the mise en scene throughout is so striking and there are undeniably chilling moments... the sense of isolation and loneliness is very palpable. it's wriggled under my skin even if i wasn't fully satisfied as a complete picture

unadulterated character assassination at its finest. horrendous plot. terrible music. phenomenal staging and costumes. musical that makes you wonder if musicals are actually good. this one is not.
i saw it when it was released in 2012 to select theaters only. i bought the dvd of it when it came out. i know that my financial patronage, in some small way, contributed to the decision to give it a US stage tour, which is something i have to live with. i've seen this production easily 15 times. i will continue to see it periodically until the day i die.
