To all otherwise, this is a biopic and I’m giving you the biggest virtual hug in the world.
A 2-hour and 18-minute troll for anyone who misunderstood what the first movie was trying to convey, and a classic tragedy for those who knew from the beginning. Was Joker 2 needed? Absolutely not. But we got it anyway.
Hats off to Todd Phillips for wanting to do something different and for the film’s (as others before have said) GIANT middle finger at the end. It single-handedly made me leave the theater incredibly sad.

Take every warm, positive, and encompassing feeling of nostalgia, home, and compassion. Then, condense it into a 133-minute reminder that in the face of adversity, the dynamic and impact of positive relationships is key to keeping your head held high and moving forward. Or to simply quote the full idiom, “the blood of the covenant [can very well be] thicker than the water of the womb”.
