Top marks for quality drunk acting. This film, by a director with a theatrical background, who loves improvisation and actors, about a play featuring improvisation and himself as an actor improvising in it, is so meta I'm surprised they didn't shout "This is a movie!" at the end.

Diving into more Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands films. He's known as the "actor's director" and Gena was his muse (and wife).
