The End of the Tour 2015
I can’t speak to how well this represents David Foster Wallace. I watched this partially to inspire me to make an attempt at reading Infinite Jest. It definitely succeeded in that but I was not expecting to be grabbed by this in the way that I was. A Real Pain 2024
A breath of fresh air. Laughed, cringed, and almost teared up during a single scene multiple times. Kieran and Jesse portray the realities of being human so well. Its greatness is in its simplicity but there are also layers to this that I don’t think I’ve fully uncovered yet. This film wrestles with some incredibly deep questions about pain and grief and how we face these feelings both personally and along side those closest to us. Even with all of this, I still wish this film went a little deeper in the final minutes.
