The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023
call me crazy but this movie was just too cliche at points. the third act felt rushed when really it should have been the most well-explained part (being a prequel of the literal main protagonist). anyways i am a rachel zegler lover to the day i die and she really carried what was an enjoyable movie to watch. special shoutout to hunter i love her too.

The Marvels 2023
people need to stop expecting every single marvel movie to be peak cinema and start to go in to enjoy the movie. this wasn't amazing, especially compared to ms marvel but it was entertaining, and just short enough without being draggy. iman was 100% the star of the show and i'm so super excited to see how she fares in the mcu. ultimately its forgettable, but in the best way possible.

Barbie 2023
this movie made me laugh harder in a cinema than i have in years and that's a testament to something. its a truly great movie and while the start was captivating, it was almost too dreamlike with no real sense of direction. the acting, set, soundtrack and framing were faultless and while the endless left one too many loose threads for me, all together it was a wonderful lil movie wrapped in a lil pink bow.

send all the pretentious cinematography-exploding films my way. loved the framing, loved the score and loved the movie but if a movie's slow enough for me to notice it must be pretty bad. the movie is thought-provoking and works well in totality and sure, the originality stands out, but there were times that pacing left the scene feeling empty and me bored. anyways give amy adams all the awards for best 'staring into distance'.
