Pride of the Marines 1945
i’ve always loved this film because of the chemistry between eleanor parker and john garfield.
it’s also a solid film about the horrors and aftermath of coming home during wwii that you don’t really find during war era films. i felt like i was in that jungle with garfield. this might be my favorite performance of his.
absolutely brilliant all around.

Black Widow 1954
A smart and engaging film from start to finish. Not your regular film noir but Black Widow should be a classic must watch for noir fans all the same.
Also, I enjoyed Van Heflin in the role but James Cagney would have been an interesting choice as Heflin’s acting in the film reminded me much of Cagney.
