Look, a slick witty Soderbergh-directed le Carré-infused convoluted whodunnit spy thriller starring ex-Bond and rumoured Bond actors was always going to be up my street, I just think this fell a little short of my expectations?

Maybe it’s my subconscious “expect a suspense or action sequence every fifteen minutes” mentality but I wish there was some more variation in scenes throughout it.

I love Naomi Harris but her accent broke my suspension of disbelief every time she spoke.

Such an interesting concept and entertaining execution that I wish felt less artificial. We’re all well-versed in the experience of lockdown and the bizarre connection brought via online gaming, so by the time we hit a Major Emotional Beat perfectly placed to hit a three act structure it just rings false. I don't mind mediating real footage to lean into a heist genre angle, but you can’t have your cake and eat it when it comes to authenticity.

Still, this is still probably the most authentic representation of that strange intangible community spirit of online gaming in cinema (just beating out First Cow, iykyk)

This was great - for the most part.

It's so unusual to see such a pro-feminist film from the 1920s so I really enjoyed this one, especially early on. However, as the film progresses, it becomes less and less progressive.

I'm not sure whether I even understand the ending, it feels so reductive. Either way, it's a fascinating insight into everyday life nearly a century ago.
