Crazy camera work. Also no sane man would think to focus on a random cop just to build audience fondness for him when he dies. That's why we love Denis. He doesn't just let the symbolizism sit there, he has to beat you over the head with it. "This is bad!" He shouts, and he is probably one of the best directors alive for it.

Troy 2004
An alright movie thats really drawn down by what feels like a constant attempt to make what I can only assume is "quotable material". The women are beautiful, and the camera work is alright, but it's nothing to be talked about. I quite enjoyed the music, and I can let the historical inaccuracies pass because wearing actual mycenaean armor would just make the movie a lot worse. The removing of some other parts of the illiad just frustrated me.

The Devil's Advocate 1997
A middling movie with an alright plot and script and bad effects, but it's absolutely saved by Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. In every scene they're in together they create a masterpiece of dialogue.
I found the plot to struggle a little bit to make sense, especially in areas about why being a lawyer is somehow bad, but it was altogether an interesting and fun watch.

This is beautiful movie. I mean expertly done. Holy shit. An hour and half of people talking. That's it. The actors are mediocre and nothing to really write home about, though John was perfectly casted. But where the film refuses to shine in its actors or screenplay, the writing is perhaps the best of any film I've ever seen.
